Montague High : Danny McCarron

Sailing

a sail boat that once was mine,
glides across the water like a
skater on ice.
just me and my dad, taken
it easy, teaching
our selves how to sail.
i lie there on the floor
all stretched out,
and dad stretches out on the bow.
we look at a flag on the shore
to see which way the wind
is blowing. we sail up and
down the sturgeon river and
out into st mary’s bay,
for hours.
when the sun starts to
go down, we decide to head in.
the wind dies down,
and the water is smooth as glass.
we put the boat on the trailer
and head home.
